A corchal is a collapsed cenote that still has springs. Our corchal has a diameter of approximately 46 meters and five springs surrounding it. Inside, you can find a wide variety of local trees, including a hybrid variety of anona, which, according to our native friends, they've only seen at Mama Loo.mm.

While there's no better way to connect with Mama Loo.mm, or Mother Earth, than by burning a tree, stepping barefoot and feeling its vibrations, or simply feeling the wind rush by and touch your skin, we invite you to visit our representation of her. This sculpture emerged from the trunk and roots of one of the fallen trees we found during our first tour of the property. It cried out to take the form of a woman bringing forth a world from her womb. This, of course, is what inspired the property's name. Be sure to visit and leave your good wishes and requests on a piece of cloth that you can tie near it so the wind can spread it throughout the universe!

Although from the beginning, part of our mission has been to reforest the property by reproducing the species found here, over time our nursery has grown to incorporate edible plants such as oranges, bananas, chilies, herbs, and more. Mama Loo.mm is a former chicle field, and we believe this is why, during our first visits, we found mature lemon and bitter orange trees. We assume that when the chicle growers ate, they threw the seeds from the fruit they ate to the ground, and nature took care of the rest. We recently incorporated a new composting system more geared toward soil regeneration. Ask us if you can help us plant and learn some tips on how to plant in small spaces. There's nothing more satisfying than eating something you planted yourself!

Mama Loo.mm is a place of A THOUSAND STARS! And on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at dusk, we invite you to join us at the communal fire pit (next to the deck) to count the stars while enjoying delicious "S'mores" or melted chocolates with a piece of chocolate between two cookies...
